Here are videos I have of the XM TURNPIKE CRUISER
before, during and after the restoration

First of all is this video of the XMTC in operation
while it was new
and traveling the counrty to various shows
in it's custom built trailer.

This next video was very interesting to me.
It was discovered by a friend of mine,
Ralph Voorhees who was watching vintage races on Youtube.
This it the 1957 Grand National Race on Daytona Beach
and low and behold,
the 1956 XM Turnpike Cruiser is a quasi Pace Car
leading the field of racers right after the Jets pass over.

This is a video taken by Kris Trexler 1982-1983
after the car was purchased by Ray Cosh in California
from Ray Sabo in Michigan.
It shows the sad condition way back then
from the neglect the car experienced in it's early days of Private ownership.
I purchased the XMTC in 2018 from Ray Cosh
and am in the process of restoring it as you can see on this website.

This is the first video I completed showing portions
of the restoration. It shows me cutting away rust perforated metal
in the area at the front of the car
which is directly behind the front bumpers with a plasma cutter.
Future videos will show the "after" product.

This video shows how badly rusted the car was in the windshield bunk area.
I'm also cutting away the top sheet metal to expose the bunk area
and then removing the bunk.
A future video will show the restoration of this area.

This is the area from the back door posts all the way around
to the other side that will be removed in future videos.
Also shown is the rusty turn signal housings
at the corners of the roof.
The rear cowl area between the rear window and trunk opening
original piece weighed 24 pounds
and the new piece I fabricated weighed in at 8 pounds.
There was 16 pounds of lead on the original piece.
it was 1/2" thick!!!

This is a continuation of the rear cowl
area and alongside the quarter windows
showing lead removal and the rust
that will get replaced with new metal

This is when I was fitting the butterfly
roof panels and the roof edge trim after
I had reconstructed the rusty structure
under the roof that supports them

This is a two part video with Gene Bordinat describing the process of designing
a car while using the XM Turnpike Cruiser 3/8 scale model,
full size drawings and the completed car as models to illustrate his descriptions.

Here is a short walk around video showing the current state of the restoration as of Dec 2, 2021

Here is a short video of the newly restored XM Turnpike Cruiser Driving,
something that hasn't happened since sometime in 1957!

This is the latest walk around video of the finished XM Turnpike Cruiser restoration

Keep checking here as I'll be adding videos as I get time to edit them.
